SASO energy efficiency label and air-conditions’ energy efficiency standard new regulations
The latest EER requirements are as follows:
In view of air-conditions
SASO has issued the revised SASO 2663/2012 with a focus on air-conditions’ energy labels and minimum energy efficiency requirements. The detailed upgrades are as follows:
Conduct energy efficiency certification according to original SASO 2663/2007 standards before July, 31st, 2013.
Sep, 31st, 2013
Imported air-conditions assembled with original SASO 2663/2007 standards will be rejected by Saudi Arabia and Trade Association after Sep, 31st, 2013.
Jan, 1st, 2014
Since Jan, 1st, 2014, single phase air-conditions, no matter they are imported or manufactured domestically, will be rejected selling in Saudi Arabian market if their specifications do not conform to EER values required by the new standard, SASO 2663/2012.
Jan, 1st, 2015
Since Jan, 1st, 2015, biphase air-conditions, no matter they are imported or manufactured domestically, will be rejected selling in Saudi Arabian market if their specifications do not conform to EER values required by the new standard, SASO 2663/2012.
In view of washing machine, refrigerators/coolers/freezers
There is no change in current standard.
New regulations for SASO energy efficiency labels verification
The new regulations for SASO energy efficiency labels (air-conditions, refrigerators/coolers, washing machines) will be carried out on Sep, 2013. The certificate’s validity term will be shortened to 1 year from the original 2 years and the energy efficiency tests should be issued by laboratories assembled with ISO 17025 qualifications. Safety detection reports should also be presented when applying for energy efficiency labels verification.
